14TH ANNUAL
CONCERT BY THE LAKE
(2008)
Everyone agreed that it was a
beautiful day for a live concert and really good hamburgers, Polish sausage,
hotdogs, watermelon, and popcorn. We
should really be proud that we helped raise about $2500 for a very good cause,
the local Relief Child Care Program.
This program aims to prevent child abuse and provide parent
education. Many thanks to Kiwanians
Wendy Farley-Campbell, Norma Vestey, Ron Vestey, Karla Pike, Elton Knutson,
Jenny Lockler and her husband Jason, Nan Osbon, Lon Bradley, Ed Dowty, John Buchanan,
Colin Grist, Brian Fitch, Steve Olienyk, Clara Anderson-Kuhn, Kathleen Forbes,
and a special thank-you to Vicki Easton, whose tireless work throughout the day
was invaluable. We served about 500 hotdogs and Polish sausages and
250 hamburgers. Concession product donators included the Pepsi Corporation,
McDonald Wholesalers, Franz Family Bakery, Stop-N-Shop Market, the Lutheran
Thrivent Group. The condiments are
always donated by Bill & Kay Craig (in case someone was wondering why I
helped myself to a free hamburger and drinks).
And, thank-you to Rob and Alicia Spooner for coming up with that great
looking banner that we placed in front of the tables!! If we are going to have a
concert next year, someone(s) in our Club will have to step up to the plate and
take over for Kathleen Forbes in arranging the musicians, sound systems, and
stage. Kathleen said that she is
preparing a complete “things to do” list so that the job isn’t quite as
mind-boggling. Let’s get some newer
members involved!!! Thanks again for all
your help and loan of the ice chests.
Let’s do it again next year!!!
